Wow. That was a tad frustrating to watch. Sure, I invest a ton of time and money into my costumes, but still contribute to various causes (whether it be Play for Japan, Cosplay for a Cause, or simply going to work at a food shelf) whenever I can. Are having a hobby and helping humanitarian causes mutually exclusive?
